At the heart of Relativity’s robotic rocket factory is Stargate, which Ellis claims is the largest metal 3D printer in the world. The first version of Stargate is about 15 feet tall and consists of three robotic arms. The arms are used to weld metal, monitor the printer’s progress, and correct for defects.

They needed a special material for their parts that could withstand the elements of the process that they use to 3D print their metal rocket fuel tanks. So we got on the phone with our chemists at BJB Enterprises. We needed something special, it had to be strong, and it had to withstand to the environment that the process was creating. After a few tries we were finally able to come up with a product that would meet their needs.

Relativity Space says they are going to be the first company to 3D print a rocket on the planet Mars. We hope we can be part of that journey with them. Thank you Relativity Space, it was an honor working with you.
